London Tech Week Hotels: Where to Stay Near the Action
Where to stay for London Tech Week: the best areas and hotels near Olympia, options near the East London fringe events, budget tips and booking advice.

London Tech Week brings thousands of founders, investors, executives and policymakers to the city every June. Hotels fill quickly and prices rise, so where you stay can make a big difference to your budget and your energy levels. This guide explains which areas work best and how to book well.
Before you book: confirm the dates and venue on the official London Tech Week website. Recent editions have been held at Olympia in West London, but always check the current year’s details.
Understanding the geography
London Tech Week has two sides:
- The main conference, which in recent years has taken place at Olympia in Kensington.
- Fringe events, which take place across the city, especially in Shoreditch, King’s Cross and Canary Wharf.
If you’ll spend most of your time at the main venue, stay in West London. If you’re there mainly for meetings and side events, a central or East London base may suit you better.
Best areas to stay near Olympia
Kensington
The most convenient choice. You can often walk to Olympia, and Kensington High Street has plenty of restaurants. Options include large chain hotels on and around the high street, such as the Hilton London Olympia and the Royal Garden Hotel near Kensington Gardens. Prices are high during Tech Week, so book early.
Hammersmith
A short ride from Olympia, with good Tube connections on several lines. Business hotels such as the Novotel London West are popular with conference visitors. Hammersmith often offers better value than Kensington.
Earls Court and West Brompton
Plenty of mid-range and budget hotels, a short trip from Olympia. A good choice if you want to keep costs down and don’t mind a few stops on the Tube.
Shepherd’s Bush
Close to Olympia and to the Westfield shopping centre, with several mid-range hotels and good transport. Worth checking when Kensington is sold out.
Staying near the fringe events
Shoreditch
If your week is full of startup events and investor meetings, Shoreditch puts you in the middle of the East London scene. Design-led hotels and serviced apartments are common here. Read our East London tech hub guide to get your bearings.
King’s Cross
Excellent transport links, including the Eurostar at St Pancras, and close to the London AI hub. Good for visitors splitting time between events and meetings with AI companies.
Budget options
If prices near Olympia are too high, look further out along the District or Piccadilly lines, where hotels are often much cheaper and journeys are still straightforward. Budget chains have several branches in West London, and university accommodation is sometimes available in summer. Short-term rental apartments can work for teams, but read cancellation terms carefully.
Getting to Olympia
Kensington (Olympia) station has limited services, so many visitors use nearby stations such as West Kensington, Shepherd’s Bush or High Street Kensington, then walk. Buses run along Kensington High Street and Hammersmith Road. Allow extra time on the first morning, when crowds are heaviest.
Booking tips for London Tech Week
- Book as early as you can. Rates near Olympia rise as the event approaches.
- Choose flexible rates if your plans might change.
- Check transport, not just distance. A hotel on the right Tube line can beat a closer one with an awkward journey.
- Consider serviced apartments if you’re travelling as a team.
- Use contactless payment on the Tube and buses. It’s the simplest way to get around.
